Baris Coskun

I’m from Turkey and am a PhD candidate at Poly. I received my B.S. and M.S. from Bogazici University, Istanbul, in 2001 and 2004, respectively. I’ve been dealing with multimedia security since working on my senior project, which was about semi-fragile image watermarking techniques. My master’s thesis was on robust video hashing. While pursuing my master’s, I also worked as a full-time software engineer in the telecommunications industry, where I participated in various projects, including ones on intelligent network applications, short-message service centers, value-added services and mobile video streaming.

My focus within security is on signal processing and multimedia security. Recently I’ve been working on perceptual hash functions and digital-camera forensics.

I like movies and see them quite frequently. I also like playing soccer and basketball. I used to go fishing but haven’t been able to find many opportunities recently; instead I’m developing a new hobby — skiing.
